Gamescom: Fight between Twitch-Stars escalates

This year’s Gamescom took place between the 24th. and the 28th. August in Cologne, Germany. However, on the side-lines of this year’s world’s largest computer and video games fair there was a physical altercation between several Twitch-Stars. The Casino-Streamers orangemorange, Scurrows and self-proclaimed “Casino-Opponent“ Tanzverbot were involved. But how did the situation escalate to a point that at the end those involved come to blows?

Till now the Influencers had only fought online on Twitch or on other platforms. However, a few days ago the Twitch-Stars orangemorange, Scurrows and Tanzverbot were involved in a “real” physical altercation. The harshly criticised casino-streams were the focal point of the argument, during which allegedly a glass was also thrown. Just a few weeks ago we had reported about an interview about the issue of how much money do casino-streamers actually earn.

A fight about casino-streams leads to physical altercation

There were more than 1100 exhibitors from more than 50 different countries taking part in this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. However, on the side-lines of this fair, a few days ago, on Friday, the 26th of August several Twitch-Stars came to blows. The motive behind the fight were the casino-streams which have long been a controversial point in the gaming scene. Many Live-Streamers have entered into lucrative deals with online casinos and thus earned several million Euro. However, this issue is criticised by many other Influencers. In December of last year we had raised the issue, whether the streamer MontanaBlack had refused a Casino-Deal of more than 12 million Euro.

Tanzverbot has on several occasions in the past referred to casino-streamers as “morally absolutely corrupt”. Besides this, he also describes casino-streamers as “absolute human rubbish”. In view of his critical stance on casino-streams, he then came into a conflict with the casino-streamers orangemorange and Scurrows.

Drinking glasses were thrown and they spit at each other

As a video released on YouTube shows, drinking glasses were thrown, and they also spitted at each other. Besides this, those involved hollered at each other and pushed each other, till a woman fell to the ground. The woman who was accompanying the Influencers Tanzverbot was hit by a glass and there afterwards those involved came to blows. Tanzverbot flipped out and at first there were verbal spats and later it escalated to a physical altercation between Tanzverbot and the casino-streamers orangemorange and Scurrows.

Since months there has been a spat between the two gambling streamers and Tanzverbot. However, till now this has only been transmitted online. After Scurrows challenged Tanzverbot during the Gamescom to “come up”, his streaming-colleague orangemorange then allegedly threw a glass at him. Besides this, it was reported that orangemorange also hit the woman who was accompanying Tanzverbot. Thus, orangemorange is now being criticised on the social networks and is being called a “hooligan who hits women”. 

Orangemorange gave an official statement where he dismissed the accusations that he threw a glass. He stated that he only threw a half full plastic cup. The video showing this incident which was released on YouTube supports this statement. Besides this, orangemorange stated that he did not hit the woman who was accompanying Tanzverbot on purpose, and thus was not a “hooligan who hits women”. Orangemorange also asserted that he had only wanted to mediate but because Tanzverbot had reacted so aggressively he had then decided to defend himself.

Conclusion

It is now still not clear who started the fight. On the video released on YouTube, one could see several of those involved being aggressive. It is definitely undignified and inappropriate, especially since those involved are so popular, to let such a fight escalate to body harm. Tanzverbot criticised his “Twitch colleagues” orangemorange and Scurrows that they take payments from online casinos and advertise for the providers and for online gambling in general.
