Off topic & small talk: Stop smoking: Already 9 days done!

Something else on the subject of addiction. An addiction that is much worse than gambling addiction. Addiction to nicotine. I have been a smoker since I was 17 and have been a heavy smoker for almost 10 years now (between 1 and 3 packs of cigarettes a day. With much stress 3, with little also times "only" a pack).

For over 10 years I have tried to quit smoking but never lasted longer than 3 days. 1,5 years ago I actually managed not to smoke for 2 months. The first 5 days were hell and then it got better and better. After two / three weeks it felt as if I had never been a smoker. I also started exercising after 2 weeks and even lost weight.

The 2 months of not smoking was the best time of my life for 10 years. I felt freer, younger, fitter, cleaner and also mentally stronger, more alert and fit. I admittedly gambled more during the first phase of nicotine withdrawal but screw it! Body is more important than a few colorful pieces of paper or a red or black number on the bench.

Unfortunately, in hindsight, it felt like quitting smoking was easy and then for some stupid reason I started again. I thought to myself that I was now strong enough to smoke only 2-3 cigarettes after a meal. Unfortunately, I then quickly adopted the old pattern again and also with my location (psychologically and especially psychologically) it went downhill.

Since that time I have tried to stop smoking again and again. Until 9 days ago always unsuccessfully. I can now proudly announce that I now have 9 smoke-free days behind me. The first 5 - 10 days are the hardest and decisive. After that you still have a very, very slight craving from time to time, but it's absolutely easy.

I hope that my mental and physical health will develop as positively as it did 1.5 years ago. Only this time I won't make the mistake of smoking "one". I would also like to encourage the smokers here in the forum to stop smoking. It is really worth it!

I don't smoke myself, so I can't comment on this addiction. But I hope for you that you keep it up. For your health certainly better in the long run.

Sher interesting that I am doing/trying the same thing in parallel. I have been smoking more than 30 cigarettes a day for more than 8 years. I started thinking a few months ago about how stupid this actually is and I can only lose at it

Now I have finally (for the first time in my life) made the decision to quit. So I was able to cut down my smoking from more than 30 to 5 a day. I smoke these 5 not because I absolutely have to, but because I have been doing it daily for more than 8 years and it is simply a habit. I am very confident that I will smoke the last one in the next few days. As soon as this happens I will let you know. Hopefully the 2 of us can keep it up. Health really does come before everything

You can do it...I've never smoked either, but my wife now "vapes". She has also never completely managed (except during pregnancy). I wish you that you can manage it!

The video helped me quite a bit (I did it the first time with the help of this video):

@Hammer: Wish you much success in putting your project into practice. Never give up and try again immediately if it should fail.

I want to drink less now and stop with the eternal sex. I've already made it 11 hours - meanwhile I'm so rancid that I could drink antifreeze and our guinea pig away ...... I hope I make it !!!!!!!!

So for people who really want to quit smoking, I can really only recommend the switch to vapor. It is not a total renunciation but really a lot healthier than the normal quartzerei. During my summer vacation in Spain I started slowly with the change and after the return I switched completely to vaporizing. You just have to find the right device and especially "his taste". Only times so ne E-Dampfe to try is in most cases unsuccessful, if that really wants to try someone should he in a Fachgschäft and inquire there also after a Stammtisch locally. There one has the best possibility to procure an overview of devices and tastes. In the specialty store you can "look" but usually not really much "try out". Vaporizing is not necessarily cheap - but it changes a lot in everyday life. Sense of smell and taste return, you partly develop a "hobby" - because you can tinker, videos guggen etc etc... As I said I can only warmly recommend it to everyone. (Nice side effect: You hate it then to go in Spielos since one there the Raucherrei ruckzuck on the bag goes )

I can agree with Akaris. I have also vaporized 3 weeks and it is actually so that you feel although you take nicotine almost like a non-smoker or significantly better. The withdrawal symptoms are minimal, but were still very slightly present at the beginning - for whatever reason ...

And of course steaming is cheaper, only the investment in the first month is more expensive, but after that you save. Or has something changed in the meantime?

Be that as it may. Vaporizing is of course 100x better, because you do without tar and many other toxins. Nevertheless, the nicotine remains, a neurotoxin which is also not healthy, and an addiction.

Best not smoke at all, if there is no other way, then better vaporize ...

I also wanted to make a web project on the subject of e-cigarettes. But there are already many good sites. Maybe I have an idea how to get more smokers to vaporize. The state, the pharmaceutical & the tobacco industry have something against it. And I love it these three Assis one reinzud.

@Akaris: Can you recommend a good info website and / or webshops for people who might be interested in this matter?
