Off topic & small talk: Do I still have to pay a Postbank claim after 30 years?

Hello, today I received a letter from a lawyer with a claim for about 330€.

I had opened an account with Postbank in 1992, I hardly ever used it and at some point I forgot about it. Apparently, the account management fees have accumulated there and in 2005, a reminder was issued by the AG Euskirchen for 86 € plus court fees
Well, at that time I lived in the USA and didn't notice anything about the notice. Anyway, today I got the nice letter with the total claim incl. interest and fees about 330 Euro.

Should I now seek a lawyer (I have legal protection insurance) or simply settle the claim and that's it?

Thanks in advance for well-intentioned advice.

Tell them you can pay 330 DM, after all, you were at DMark times customer 😁

I would pass it on to the legal protection, what do you pay them for....

Yes, I could, but since the reminder is issued in 2005 and then 30 years is valid I think it is better to settle the claim so I do not run the Risk that because of such a small amount my Insurance premiums are increased or I have to pay a deductible in future litigation

The order for payment, or the opened order for payment procedure, suspends the 30 year limitation period; I also think that paying the amount is the better alternative...

Well, if you emigrate or live somewhere else, then you have to cancel all contracts in DE, be it rent, electricity and even all accounts that are in your name. The thread creator has unfortunately forgotten this and the fees have continued to be booked, because the account still existed. A contract had been signed. I myself had an account with the Sparkasse with -20€ and the account was "only" blocked, but not canceled. When I had then settled the claim, the account was released for use again.

I actually do not find it brazen, since it is as said not yet "statute-barred" and even if that would be shortly before, they would still have a right to your claim.

Of course you're right but you would have the TE can certainly somehow reach is not now a large sum but imagine it would go to a few thousand since it would be more painful
