A few weeks ago, a guest at an arcade was probably quite astonished when he returned from the toilet. As he only wanted to interrupt his game for a short "wee break", he left his entire credit balance on his slot machine and then disappeared to the toilets. When he returned a few minutes later, the credit had already been paid out in full and the slot machine was empty.

Just over a year ago, we at GambleJoe reported that a gambler was robbed after visiting a casino in Mainz. The perpetrator in this case was quickly caught and sentenced to two years and ten months in prison. In a recent case, the perpetrator has not yet been caught. In this case, the perpetrator probably took advantage of a favourable opportunity and emptied the credit balance on a slot machine within a short period of time. The authorised player at the machine was in the toilet at the time.

Over 500 euros in credit was withdrawn from the slot machine

The 37-year-old player, who was visiting an arcade in Mainz, had a credit balance of over 500 euros on the machine in question. After he returned from the toilets, the entire balance was paid out and his slot machine was deserted. The suspect has not yet been identified. However, there is video surveillance in the arcade, so there are already some promising leads on the perpetrator. The case has since been reported to the police, who are now investigating the theft.

So far, the player still has to cope with the loss. Of course, the arcade will not refund the debited credit. The next time he will probably refrain from using the machines or withdraw the entire balance beforehand.

A case from Bamberg, which we reported on shortly before Christmas last year, shows that some gamblers are unable to cope with the possible losses on slot machines. A mentally unstable player went on the rampage in a snack bar after his loss.

Baden-Württemberg: Slot machine broken into at Easter

In the tranquil village of Bad Urach, a burglary occurred last Easter weekend between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9.40 a.m. on Monday. The unknown perpetrator or perpetrators forced open a slot machine in the local pub. The cash box inside was stolen. The criminals failed to break into two other slot machines. It is not yet known how much damage was caused. The police have also started an investigation into this case.

A burglary in North Rhine-Westphalia, which we reported on here in January 2023, was much more spectacular. Here, a car drove through a shop window to break into an amusement arcade.
