On Sunday, the 27th.February 2022, there was a hold up on an amusement arcade in Wuppertal. The local police is searching for a 25-year-old man who seems to be connected to the case. The man is also being suspected to have raided a petrol station on the highway on the same day. But how did the two holdups take place and how much money was stolen?

Only a few weeks ago we had reported that a perpetrator had raided the same amusement arcade in Mallorca three times within a short while. A short while later the perpetrator was arrested by the local police. In the actual case a man robbed an amusement hall and a few minutes later he also raided a nearby petrol station.

Perpetrator threatened employee with a knife

According to the police the man entered the amusement hall at around 00:45 hrs and threatened the 64 -year-old employee with a knife. The employee then had to comply with the man’s demand and hand him the intake. The perpetrator escaped immediately and went on to raid a petrol station on the A46 just a short while later.

Here the perpetrator entered the premises at around 1.00 am and demanded the income from the cash register whilst threatening with a knife. The 55-year-old employee also complied with the man’s demand and handed over the money. Afterwards the man escaped and managed to also evade the police who had been alerted.

Loot of just 700

The first investigations show, that the escaped robber had made just 700 Euro from the raids. The case reminds us of a failed robbery on an amusement arcade in Bayern, in which the perpetrator made away with just 463 Euro in four deeds and he was then arrested by the police a short while later.

From the identical descriptions of the person and because of the fact that both timewise and locality wise the two raids were similar it is very probable that the same perpetrator is responsible for both deeds. The suspected perpetrator who managed to escape is around 1.75 metres tall and is around 25 years old. Those who have any information about the case are requested to contact the local police on the phone number 0202 / 284 0. In April of last year we had reported that a new policy has been published with the aim of preventing holdups on amusement arcades.

For years the number of attempts on game arcades has been steadily decreasing. According to Statista, in 2013 there were 1098 robbery attempts on amusement arcades. As a comparison: In 2019 there were only 373 attempts. Since nowadays there is not much cash in the amusement arcades, amusement arcades are not so attractive anymore for perpetrators. Besides this, one can face several years’ imprisonment in Germany for robberies.

Conclusion

In one night there were holdups on an amusement arcade and a petrol station on the highway, supposedly by the same perpetrator. In both robberies the perpetrator threatened the employees with a knife to make away with the earnings. We are curious to see whether the police will succeed to arrest the perpetrator soon.
