Several men seem to have taken advantage of a system fault in the slot machine and thus wrongfully made high winnings. Now the three men must appear in front of the court in Dresden and answer for their actions. But how did the accused manage to manipulate the slot machine and which penalty do they face?

In December 2021 we had reported about a case from Dresden, in which a gambling addict had defrauded his friends of 44,000 Euro. The man appeared in front of the Court of Lay Assessors in Dresden and was condemned to a prison sentence of two years and eight months. In this current case three men are accused of having manipulated several slot machines and thus received high winnings wrongfully. At least one of the men is said to be known to the police as he had committed similar crimes in the past.

How were the slot machines manipulated?

The three men must appear in court in Dresden in the coming days to answer for their actions. They are being accused of having manipulated the slot machines and thus received high winnings wrongfully whilst playing. Hereby the criminal trio seem to have taken advantage of a system mistake. The men seem to have got the instructions for the manipulation of the slot machine from the dark net.

The instructions seem to have helped them to reactivate a game on the slot machines which was actually blocked. As a consequence they had several winning streaks on the respective machines which led the trio to earn a total of 18,152 Euro. The deeds seem to have happened between 2015 and 2016 in five different casinos in Meißen. Around a year ago we had already reported about a case, in which a Band had manipulated slot machines and the damages amounted to 500,000 Euro.

Criminal charge: Computer fraud

The responsible prosecution has accused the three men that they have used the instructions from the dark net, to be able to activate a game on the slot machines, which had been locked. This involves a game of the company Bally Wulff. The slot machine developer from Berlin had in the past already suggested that the relevant game is deactivated, since the winnings for the players would be too high. The game arcade operator had followed the advice and deactivated the game, but now the three accused men have once again deactivated the game through criminal ways. They had illegally entered a device PIN-Code and thus made the game “playable“ again.

The men were accused by the state prosecution of the criminal offence of computer fraud. The accused also appeared to be insightful and pleaded guilty. Therefore they were only condemned to a prison sentence, which will be suspended. The proceedings will continue. In January 2021 we had reported about another case, that a man has also landed in court after a tax fraud connected to slot machines, worth 900,000 Euro.

Conclusion

The three men who were accused in Dresden are said to have manipulated several slot machines in five arcade halls, that and thus heaving won 18,152 Euro illegally. They had unlocked a game which had been disabled by following instructions they got from the dark web. The men have already pleaded guilty in court. They are being convicted for computer fraud.
