As the magazine “ Spiegel“ has reported a few weeks ago, a man won an impressive 229,000 US-Dollar in the casino. The Problem: he did not realise that he had won and he left the casino. Intensive investigations were carried out till the lucky chap was informed and thus the winning could be paid out.

Such a case as this does not happen often even in the gambling metropole Las Vegas. A man visits a casino, gambles for some time on the slot machines and a short while later leaves the casino without winning. Afterwards however it was realised that the man had cracked the jackpot which amounted to 229,000 US-Dollar - however the lucky chap was long gone. In January we had reported about a “Slot machine” in Las Vegas, which gives out real cars.

Malfunction on the slot machine

On the 8th. January of this year, Robert Taylor had visited the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas. He travelled from his hometown in the US Federal State of Arizona to the gambling metropole. The man actually won 229,000 US-Dollar. This comes up to around 200,000 Euro. The Problem: The machine did not display any information to Taylor that he had won. Therefore the gambling enthusiast left the casino and travelled back to Arizona. Unfortunately no information was published about the age and status of the winner.

It was only sometime later that the casino realised that Taylor had cracked the jackpot whilst playing. The problem: The lucky chap was long gone and at first his identity was not known. For this reason, the Nevada Gaming Control Board was enlisted to help trace the winner. According to a statement of the Gambling Supervisory Authority, several employees were involved in the “intensive investigations” which were necessary to trace the identity of the jackpot winner. Further to this, several video recordings were reviewed and several witnesses were questioned.

Several weeks later, on the 28th. January 2022, it was then finally established: Robert Taylor from Arizona is the person being sought. As the Nevada Gaming Control Board further informed, Taylor wants to travel to Las Vegas once again to receive the impressive winning. At the end of November 2021 we had reported that a married couple had cracked the jackpot amounting to 85,000 Euro in the Casino Reeperbahn.

Conclusion

It took a lot of time and money for the responsible Gambling Supervisory Authority to identify the jackpot winner. When the casino realised that there was a winner, the latter had had already left the gambling metropole and was travelling back to his hometown Arizona. The “Spiegel” had first reported about the case. It is still not clear what the malfunction of the play slot machine was. This led to the fact that neither the player nor the casino personnel being aware that the jackpot had been won. Robert Taylor from Arizona will by now have picked up his winning amounting to 229,368.52 US-Dollar from the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas.
