From now on the list of current topics will be updated every 60 seconds. We feel this is absolutely sufficient and it ensures that page load times have been sped up due to fewer database queries.

Since users here unfortunately only very limited contributions may edit, I would have an idea to reduce the many OTs, querbeet of all threads:
Create a thread that is permanently pinned on top under "Current Topics" and fill it with links to existing explanations.
There is now a well explained thread on almost every topic. Such discussions like e.g. VPN are not only unnecessary, these are also not to be surpassed at laziness - search function and so!
If now some will come again with their blabla - Then you open a thread about it, so that other, inexperienced users, benefit from it! Such an OT discussion serves only their own satisfaction and has 0 sustainability
