I paid a whopping 14 euros for the last currywurst with chips and a small Fanta. Okay, it was at a really big flea market, so the prices were higher anyway, but I was really shocked. I had also just ordered without looking at the price board. Who expects such sums? It's not the end of the world, but next time I'll be more careful.
Today we had wonton soup and then fried rice with chicken and vegetables. Simply delicious.

Prices like at the Oktoberfest I haven't been to a folk festival for years, but I'm sure you don't pay €14 for a currywurst with chips and a Fanta here ^^ Maybe €9-10

14€ ? that's no longer expensive, I think that's absolutely extortionate. where do you live, saphira?

The flea market was in Kerpen. It takes place every year and is very popular. It goes right through the whole town. The food stalls are set up on the market square and there really were a lot of people there. Either they were just as shocked or they thought it was normal. I also immediately thought of "usury". 😲

Although 10 euros is also a considerable price for a currywurst with fries + a small drink.

Whereby 10 euros is already a handsome price for a currywurst with fries + small drink.
I paid €4 for a small chip during Corona. It was a "city festival" with about 10 stalls. The fries weren't anything special, just normal frozen food. When I saw it, I regretted it. But it was too late McD would have been 5 minutes away and the fries would have cost me less.
Since the prices have risen since then, I think the fries now cost 5.50-6€. So I think €10 is still okay for something like that. Even though we all know it's very expensive. You can get a kebab plate for 10€ here and it's much more filling than a currywurst with fries. I'll leave out Fanta 2€/2.50€, because even at 8€ you get a lot more with a kebab plate than with a currywurst ^^

i would have given the stuff straight back to them and said: I only wanted to buy one sausage and not the whole chip shop

The icing on the cake was that while we were still sitting at the table and starting to eat, they loudly cleared away all the benches and tables around us. This was because the street was to be reopened to traffic at a certain time. The snack bar owners were really stressed because they were too late and then actually asked us to get up because our table was too far into the street. They then practically moved us again, closer to their food truck. It goes without saying that it wasn't possible to eat comfortably there. The people were nice, but of course that doesn't justify the horrendous price and the uncomfortable circumstances. They really shouldn't have sold us anything because they were far too late anyway. As I said - it will never happen to me again.
Had to eat in the canteen again today, there were lots of options, so I decided on rice with chicken fricassee mother style and paid €11.90 for a drink.
My mother did it a thousand times better. You could eat it but I won't have it a second time.
Although I asked the saleswoman if there was chicken in it and she loudly said "Of course", there wasn't much meat and not much sauce, so I ate a lot of dry rice, but I didn't get full, so I bought 2 large minced meat rolls, which was better.
