River Card
In Poker, there are usually four betting rounds. In each of these rounds, players have the opportunity to place a Bet or to drop out of the game. The first betting round is the so-called preflop. At this point, each poker Player has two cards in their hand while there are no cards face up in the middle.
In the second round, the first three cards in the center of the table are revealed (= flop). Now the players can again hold, raise or fold. In the third round of betting, the so-called turn card is dealt. This is the fourth card in the center of the table, which is now turned face up. After this round is also over, the fifth and final card follows - the river card.
After the River Card is turned over, all participants still in the game at this point have one last chance to hold, raise or fold. After the river card, the players still in the game have no chance to improve their hand.
After the river card has been revealed and the final round of betting has taken place, there may be a showdown. However, this is only the case if at least two players are still in the game at this point. At the showdown, each player puts together the best combination of his or her two hand cards and the five poker cards in the center of the table.
