Today sees the next games in the second round of the German Cup and I was looking in vain for my favourites from Bremen, who have been eliminated by Viktoria Köln, who are playing Frankfurt today. Instead, I have Hertha BSC Berlin taking on Mainz 05, and I expect the old ladies to come out on top. Mainz are playing really badly at the moment and I think the Berliners will be able to hold their own at home in the Olympiastadion, and anything is possible in extra time. Short explanation of the bet: My bet is on Hertha to go one round further, which includes extra time and penalties. The normal tip 1 only includes the 90 minutes of normal playing time, so be careful there too.

Hertha have been in better form in the 2. Bundesliga

The Bundesliga relegationists have really struggled at the start of the 2. However, Hertha have found their feet in recent weeks. They beat a good Paderborn side 3-1 last weekend, and won at Schalke three weeks ago. You can lose away to Nuremberg. Reese is coming into his own and new signing Tabakovic is a real machine up front. Mainz are bottom of the Bundesliga and were the weaker team against Bochum last Friday (xGoals 0.34) and had a lot of luck in the last minute. This team gives me absolutely nothing and anti-football has had its day.

My prediction for the game Hertha - Mainz

At the risk of repeating myself, I think the Berliners have a lot going for them under floodlights at home. Mainz did not convince me last time and the comparison between the 1. and 2. Bundesliga, but in terms of individual quality there is no big difference here. The odds are definitely worthwhile for me and I will also play the normal home win.
