NFL Tips: San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants
The two late goals by Manchester United, which were truly fluke products, have left me pretty shaken up, but today we get straight back to the NFL. It has become a tradition in the NFL for the Thursday night game to kick off the new week, and today's clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants is a battle that is very clear on paper. The 49ers are playing their first home game and have won both of their games so far, while the Giants lost their first game by a score of 0-40, which I have never seen in the NFL before. In the second game, against the supposedly worst team in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals, the Giants only managed a 3-point win after trailing by 20 points.

49ers one of the Super Bowl favourites
San Francisco reached the conference championship game last year, but fell short after all their quarterbacks went down with injuries. The 49ers have one of the top three defences in the NFL and that is the core of their success, but the offense is also very good. This is a very cohesive team and the individual quality is simply better than that of the Giants. Furthermore, the 49ers have now won 12 regular season games in a row, and especially at home under the lights, the team will have a lot of momentum.

Giants off to a slow start
I wrote above that the start to the season has not been great. On top of that, Saquon Barkley, probably the best player in the offense, is out. Daniel Jones does not have the ability to overcome this 49ers team at quarterback, and so the 49ers should be able to keep this one close. New York's biggest weakness is at wide receiver. There is simply a huge difference in quality here and it will ultimately come through.

My NFL prediction for 49ers - Giants
I might be repeating myself here, but home advantage + better squad + injuries speak for the 49ers. In most power rankings, the 49ers are right at the top. The 49ers are very deep at every level and have no weaknesses like the Giants. On top of that, the performances of both teams in the previous games have been so contrasting that I have to go for the home win. Take the 9.5 spread, as a touchdown + field goal will be enough.
