A young woman from Great Britain has defrauded a couple from Great Britain out of 45,000 GBP. She used the money to finance her intense gambling habit. Now the 25-year-old must answer for her actions in a British Court.

A few weeks ago we reported about a British wedding planner, who had defrauded 24 couples out of around 83,000 Euro. Now another case is known, in which a young woman defrauded a couple out of 45,000 GBP, which when converted amounts to approximately 53,000 Euro. Under false pretences, threatened violence and blackmail the 25-year-old woman succeeded in persuading the couple to send her several high amounts of money.

Katie S. ruined the life of a young couple

The perpetrator who is only 25 years old was at first only slightly acquainted with the couple, who she defrauded out of the high amount of money. Within 6 months she then intensified the relationship and she ruined the young couple both financially as well as emotional. She managed to scam the couple a total of 45,466 GBP.

In the beginning the perpetrator had instead with the couple that she had no money for the Christmas present of her daughter. The generous couple were moved by the story and at first they transferred Katie S. 200 GBP. At first Katie S. insisted that she would soon pay back the money. But in fact the opposite happened: The young mother terrorised the couple with thousands of text messages and was always begging them for money. At the end there were a total of 11000 text messages and the couple were finally transferring the whole wage to the begging mother.

Perpetrator blackmailed and threatened the couple

By time Katie S. was becoming even more unscrupulous to get more money from the couple. She had even blackmailed the man that she will report him for sexual harassment since she had previously sent him nude pictures of her. As things progressed the perpetrator even threatened that she will commit suicide if no further money will be sent. Further to this she also threatened the couple with violence.

Complete loot from case lost in online casino

Katie S. had lost the whole amount of the deed of over 45,000 GBP in online gambling. According to her own statement the single mother was heavily gambling addicted. Her defence stated to the court:

“She was someone who was addicted to online casinos and she would gamble away the money very quickly. She was looking for a win to try and pay the money back. She is ashamed for what has happened.”

Only a few months ago we reported about a case in which a gambling addicted woman had gambled away over 150,000 Euro in the online casino.

The case became public when the family of the injured couple had wondered about the precarious financial situation of the victims. They had only had 100 GBP since the rest of the money was given to the perpetrator.

Judgement announced - 21months in prison for Katie S.

A few weeks ago the unscrupulous perpetrator appeared in front of a British Court. The Crown Court in the English Stoke-on-Trent finally condemned the 25-year-old mother to a prison sentence of 21 months. When giving the reason for the judgement the judge pointed out that the couple had only been affected financially but they were also physically, emotionally and psychologically damaged. The female victim is to this day still suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder.

Conclusion

The 25-year-old assured the court that her online gambling addiction would be left in the past. She was very sorry for her actions and was also ashamed of what she had done. One can only hope that the involved couple will soon be able to conclude the case and that they can recover both financially as well as emotionally as soon as possible.
