A few days ago, the software provider Evolution Gaming which is no stranger to success expanded its game portfolio. As it was announced in a recent press conference, the Swedish software provider is launching a brand new game called Fan Tan. This is an ancient gambling game from China which originated more than 2000 years ago.

A few months ago we reported that the Swedish software developer Evolution Gaming is once again on the fast track. The share price of the company multiplied from 5,50 Euro in June 2016 to a current 143 Euro. The fact that the company is constantly releasing new games has definitely contributed to its impressive success.

New Game will soon be available in the live-casinos

As Evolution Gaming has announced a few days ago in a press conference, the ancient Chinese gambling game Fan Tan will soon be available in the live casinos of the provider. This is a gambling game which is around 2000 years old and which has “been forgotten”. The majority of the online players will therefore not be familiar with this game which sounds interesting.

Fan Tan has already been successful in the Asian live-casinos for many years. For this reason, Evolution Gaming has decided to establish the game on the European market.

The simple game principle is characteristic for Fan Tan. The ancient gambling game is especially popular in the casinos of Macau. Most recently this traditional game has been replaced by other Chinese games as Pai Gow or Mah-Jongg. Literally translated, Fan Tan means “repeated divisions“.

How does Fan Tan function in the live casino?

Since to date hardly anyone in Europe is familiar with the Chinese gambling game Fan Tan, we want to explain in short how it functions. At the beginning of the game round, the croupier distributes a bowl with several hundreds of one colour pearls on the table. Following this, the dealer outs a non-transparent metal container over some of the pearls and these are moved to the side. The rest of the pearls are from now on not relevant anymore for the game and are therefore removed from the game table.

The dealer now divides the “portion“ of the pearls which had been put to the side in rows of four pearls. He uses a long moving rod to do this. The player makes a bet on the number of pearls which will remain at the end of the game, after the croupier has sorted the highest possible number of pearls in rows of four. Logically at the end there will therefore be one to four pearls left.

The player in the live casino can make use of a variety of betting options. Just like in sports bets, the user can bet on whether the number of remaining pearls is even or odd or high or low. Fan Tan is available in casinos which cooperate with Evolution Gaming.

Conclusion

The Swedish software developer has expanded its game portfolio by launching the Chinese traditional game Fan Tan. Currently Evolution Gaming provides several slot machines and also many table and card games such as Roulette, Baccarat, Craps, Poker, and game shows like Monopoly and Deal or No Deal. We are excited to see whether Fan Tan will be successful on the European online gambling market.
