The American gambling industry has apparently already recovered from the consequences of the Corona pandemic. A few days ago the US- Gambling Authority “American Gaming Association“(AGA) published the sector’s sales for the first quarter of 2021. According to the latter, the gambling industry solely made a turnover amounting to more than 11 billion US-Dollar in the first three months of this year.

The US Gambling industry seems to have recovered from the consequences of the worldwide pandemic faster than expected. After the sales dropped in the past “crisis year“, meanwhile it seems that the industry is recovering significantly. In any case, the results can be seen. The United States are sprinting on the way to normality.

Eleven billion US-Dollar turnover within three months

As the American Gambling Authority AGA has announced, more than 11 billion US-Dollars were generated in the first quarter of 2021. Compared to the same time in the year 2019 this is an impressive increase of 4.1 %. And this, even though the past year has partly ruined not only the gambling industry, but also several other industries. If we look at the previous-year-period (1st. quarter 2020), the growth in sales, is now even 17.7 %. If we compare the turnover of the first quarter of 2021 with that of the last quarter of 2020, we can even notice an increase in turnover of 21.1 %.

The American Gaming Association (AGA) is the official Gambling Authority in the United States. It was founded way back in 1994. Among other things, the AGA addresses the Federal Law and regulatory questions from the area of the gambling industry. The business premises are situated in Washington D.C.

A few weeks ago we reported about the most gambling addicted US-States of the year. In the first place we find the Federal State Nevada, in which the “Entertainment -Mecca“ Las Vegas is also to be found.

Why does the gambling industry make such strong profits?

The reason for the impressive increase in turnover, is above all the fact, that the government around the President Joe Biden is currently abolishing all “Corona-Rules”. Many casinos in the country have already relaxed the hygiene and protection regulations, so that among other things, Perspex glass shields on the gaming tables have already been removed and the mask is obligatory, partly only for unvaccinated. The United States is also clearly much faster on the way to complete normality than other countries. It is therefore no wonder that even the gambling industry has recovered so fast. Besides this, a few days ago, we reported besides about the unlucky female casino visitor who threatened with a bomb in the US Federal State of Florida.

The incumbent president and CEO of the American Gambling Authority, Bill Miller, talked about this positively:

“In the course of reopening we have created a safe, as well as exciting environment for the customers.”

Sports bets-turnover gain 270 %

When compared to the first quarter of 2020, the turnover from the sports betting market increased by an impressive 270 %. To be more precise, in the first quarter of this year in the USA, a record-breaking turnover of 961 million USA Dollars was generated from sports bets. The legalising of online casinos and sports bets in some US Federal States is however the foremost reason for this positive development.

Conclusion

In any case, it is impressive how fast the US- Gambling industry could recover from the effects of the worldwide Corona pandemic. When comparing the fourth quarter 2020 to the first quarter 2021, the industry could increase its turnover by over 21 %. Therefore the gambling industry managed to reach a turnover of over eleven billion US-Dollars within only three months. One can only hope, that the positive recovery effect will continue in this way and that there will be no more setbacks in the fight against the pandemic activity.
