Gauselmann subsidiary receives first German licence for online slots

Nearly a year after the new State Gambling Act (GlüStV) came into force in Germany, the competent authorities issued the first German casino licence for virtual slot games. Thus, the Mernov Betriebsgesellschaft mbH is now officially licensed to provide online slots. But which brands are behind this company and when will further licences for slot games be issued?

The new State Gambling Act (GlüStV) came into force on the 1st.July. Since then, casino enthusiasts and gambling providers have been waiting eagerly for the competent authorities to issue the licences for virtual slot machines. Just a few days ago it was announced that the first German licence for virtual automatic games will be issued, and this comes nearly a year after the new GlüStV came into force. In February of this year we had reported about the fact that the Website of the Gemeinsamen Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL), the Community of Gambling Authorities of the regions has gone online.

The official Whitelist of the Landesverwaltungsamt of Sachsen-Anhalt lists a company, that since the beginning of May 2022 finally holds the German licence for virtual slot machines. Table 8 with the title “providers of virtual slot games” is not empty anymore.

The company involved is the Mernov Betriebsgesellschaft mbH which holds the business address of “Merkur-Allee 1-15, 32339 Espelkamp”. At first glance, experienced gambling experts will immediately realise that this is a subsidiary of the world-famous Gauselmann-Group. In October 2021 we had reported that Gauselmann has received the award for “Leading Employer”.

Which brands does the Mernov Betriebsgesellschaft mbH operate?

From the Whitelist one can see that the licence for virtual slot games is valid for the internet sites jackpotpiraten.de and bingbong.de. Both online casinos are to date still not online. On the platform of bingbong.de however there is the notice:

“In June 2022 it begins! It will soon be there – online-gambling for Germany.”

They are here advertising “pay-out within 24 hours if all the documents are provided” and “The best games of the world-leading game developer”. Jackpotpiraten.de is even holding a giveaway, where one can win up to 25,000 Euro, even though they have not officially started.

Till now the Mernov Betriebsgesellschaft mbH is the only gambling company which has an official licence for online slots. However, since now the first licence has been granted, we now expect to see further gambling providers receiving a German licence for virtual slot games in the coming weeks and months. The number of providers with a sports betting licence has already increased rapidly a while ago. Only recently we have reported that further providers have received a German sports betting licence.

Conclusion

Currently there is so much positive news from the online gambling world and each news is better than the other. Recently we had reported that several regions in Germany have started the application process for casino games as Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat. Now after a long wait, the first German licence for virtual slot games has been granted. We are excited to see when the competent authorities will issue further licences to gambling providers in Germany.
