My emigration to Malta

Today I wanted to tell you something about my emigration to Malta
I moved to Malta 4 weeks ago to the day, I already played with this idea last year but unfortunately it didn't work out as I had imagined. This year in March I decided to give it another try, I applied to German speaking companies and got in contact with Julian. I was relatively lucky and was able to quickly find a good job that also paid reasonably. In the 4 months until the emigration, Julian and I wrote a lot, he helped me a lot and explained important things and told me what I should pay attention to, especially when looking for an apartment. I deliberately wrote to Julian, because I knew that he himself is quite new on Malta and also in my age
Many will surely ask themselves why I took this step, quite simply I wanted to experience something new. I wanted to gain experience, and even if I come back to Germany in 2 years, no one can take away the experience here. I must honestly admit that it was not easy for me to say goodbye, and I was also very doubtful during the first days in Malta whether everything I was doing here was right. I had in Germany a stable social umfällt, I was popular with friends and also at work, had a good job there and earned good money, but I just something in life was missing, a challenge!
My first impressions of Malta
When I landed in Malta I was a bit scared at first, I have to admit I have never been to Malta before. I was picked up at the airport by a driver provided by my new employer. After the first 100 meters in the cab or on the Maltese roads I decided not to drive a car here. To be able to drive a car here, you need damn big balls and must be quite brazen, otherwise you will not get anywhere. Also arrived at the hotel I was very surprised how much 4 * here and 4* in Germany can differ, with us 4 * are already very luxurious which is the complete opposite here. I opened my hotel room and was pretty scared how it looks in it, it was not dirty but just damn old and a bit musty. The first morning at breakfast wasn't much better, I couldn't do much with the breakfast at the hotel, little cold cuts, weird sausages, disgusting bacon, scrambled eggs floating in water.... I fed myself the first 5 days there in the hotel only from muesli to have anything at all in the stomach.
I had arranged viewings the very next day with a realtor I had contacted beforehand, luckily I had a German speaking realtor which made everything very easy. I told her in advance exactly what I wanted and I must say she really made an effort to find it, which she did. I live here in a new building and I am the first to move in. What is very helpful in Malta is that the apartments are fully furnished, and you can theoretically move in the same day if you have signed the lease
After moving into the apartment, I was the first time shopping here, and I was very shocked by the prices and the selection, cold cuts consists here to 90% salami and ham. 4 slices of Lyoner cost here 1 €, ne pack of salami as one is accustomed from the lidl in Germany 1.60 € or Magerine which costs 60 cents in DE, comes here with 1.70 € which is already very awesome. Packaged ice cream is also very expensive here, as well as yogurt and milk products. And this minced meat here, that is so disgusting, I have never eaten such a disgusting minced meat as here. Julian had warned me about it before but I didn't quite want to believe him and bought a pack, already the smell when frying is absolutely disgusting, and the taste doesn't make it any better(haha)
My first time riding the bus here, was towards my new job, and I must honestly admit I was scared on the bus, the bus is so crowded every morning and afternoon that there is no back or forward. Would the police in Germany see such an overcrowded bus would be the ride for him then over but here this is probably normal, and also how the driver drives is not very trustworthy. Meanwhile I got used to it but the 1st week of bus driving was really not easy
The first time what drinking I was here with Julian, we were in a cool beach bar and have us very good conversation, he has me there then again some important things here explained what was really very nice of him. Also my first time casino here was with Julian, I must say I like Julian he is super on it and you can have a lot of fun with him. At this point I would also like to say that I will not answer any messages like "what does Julian look like or where does he live ect" just to protect his identity!
To find an end, all in one I do not regret the step, if you are ready to make some sacrifices, and with the heat and generally the climate here is already ne cool island where you can live well. You just must not compare many things with Germany and always keep in mind that you live here where others go on vacation then you can be happy here
Sunny greetings from Malta ☀️🇲🇹
P.s: Spelling mistakes you can keep, I give you 😁

I think it would be too early to draw a conclusion about your emigration, but on the whole I think it's okay that you wanted to get out of your comfort zone
