“Jackpot ban” arrives – the end of an era

It is however the case, that the new Gambling Treaty (GlüStV) plans a so-called ”Jackpot ban“. This means that in the future there cannot be any million winnings anymore at virtual slot machines. In concrete terms in § 22a Abs. 8 of the Treaty on Gambling:

“Your winnings must be in a multiple of the investment, which multiple is determined before. Investments, winnings or parts of deposits and winnings may not be accrued for the purpose of being used for future gambling. (Jackpot ban).”

It is a fact that in this year there will be clearly lower single profits. Many Casino operators are still working on receiving a German Casino Licence. It is questionable, to what extent the enforcement of stricter gambler protection measures could be detrimental to the business, both in the medium and long term. 

The relaxation of the strict regulations seem at least theoretically conceivable, so that the majority of the gamblers do not turn their backs on the regulated online-gambling market.

Conclusion
