EM-Quali: England vs. Italy

Football Tips: England v Italy
I've had a bit of a bad run lately and I apologise to everyone who's backed me, I hope you can appreciate that. I had a good run before that. Tomorrow is the return leg of the last EM final and England can book their ticket to the tournament in Germany with a win. On Malta, I get a good sense of the state of Italian football and things are not looking good at the moment. The football is not very inspiring and the skandals surrounding Juventus are just the tip of the iceberg. The Italian squad has long since ceased to inspire fear and trepidation, which is why I think England will win at home in Wembley. It may not be the most spectacular of picks, but it is simply the best choice for tomorrow.

England, one of the favourites for the title?
With Southgate, who I am not a fan of, on the sidelines, I am still sceptical about that statement. On paper, there are certainly few teams that can boast a better squad, but England have often had this luxury. Just think back to the Beckham/Scholes/Rooney/Lampard sides. At the moment, though, there is no denying that there is an unbelievable amount of quality on the pitch. It starts with Kane, who is one of the best strikers in the world, and continues with Bellingham, who is having an outstanding season at Real. There is almost double depth in every position, and for me England will be one of the favourites next summer.

Will Italy miss out on the EC?
Italy currently have 10 points from 5 games and are in 2nd place. They are level on points with Ukraine, who have a game in hand. Italy missed out on the last World Cup and if they lose to England tomorrow, there will be a showdown in the next international break. Again, I take a look at the squad and immediately notice that there are no legionnaires other than goalkeeper Donnaruma. Against Malta there was a three-pronged attack of Berardi, Kean and Raspadori, which is no insurmountable obstacle for me. There are no great Italian talents in the squad either, so the team is not bad, but no more.

Revenge at Wembley and my England v Italy prediction
England will book their ticket to the European Championship at Wembley and I expect their quality to prevail. Kane, Saka, Bellingham, Foden and Rashford are simply too much. I do not want to put Italy down, but their fans are not optimistic either. I therefore recommend an easy win at home, although I can see a handicap here. England can play themselves into a frenzy and then Italy will give up quickly.

The direct comparison of national teams makes only limited sense. The squads and starting positions are simply different.

@Andre: Congratulations Andre I thought I had tipped on 2 bills x2 Italy. Just now I see it, I clicked wrong and last corner Italy typed, and even correctly for Q 2.3 But one game left with Mexico against Germany, I have 1x Mexico,...   show more

In this game I gamble on the draw with ner odds of 3.75. If it is from the 70th draw I assume that both no longer hurt each other. With a draw England is virtually through (then 4 points ahead of Ukraine) and won the direct...   show more
