Sunday's 19:00 kick-off is one of the absolute top games of the second NFL week and I will be presenting you with my Jaguars vs. Chiefs prediction. Let me say right up front that I expect a high-scoring, offensive affair and that is why I am going for the total. There are two excellent offenses on the field, and they will move the ball well if the weather is good. Kansas is a sure-fire scorer, boasting the best player in the NFL in quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Is Jacksonville suddenly a Super Bowl contender?
I am not going to go that far, but two years ago they were the worst team in the NFL and had the number one pick in the NFL Draft. Trevor Lawrence was considered one of the greatest quarterback talents of all time, and now in his third year, he is starting to live up to the hype. He has all the athleticism of a superstar quarterback and is showing off his powerful, accurate arm more and more. In Calvin Ridley, he now has a genuine number one wide receiver on the team, and the rest of the offence is well stocked.
Kansas City - the reigning Super Bowl champions
The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions, having beaten the Eagles 38-35 in a really good game in February. Since the arrival of Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have reached at least the conference title game every year, which speaks volumes about his quality. Against the Jaguars, he also gets his favourite target and the best tight end in the NFL back in Travis Kelce. The offense looked a little rusty in Week 1, but against the Jaguars the matchup is perfect and I expect an MVP-calibre performance from Mahomes.
My Jaguars vs. Chiefs NFL prediction
There is simply a lot to like here, with two very good quarterbacks facing very good offenses. On top of that, both defences are not particularly scary, so I expect a quick, high-scoring game. Both teams will move the ball well and score regularly, so neither team will be able to slow down. I can easily see us reaching the 6-point mark.
