Tennis Tips: Dominic Thiem vs. Ben Shelton
Before I concentrate on the betting tips: At the time of going to press, the time of the match was not yet known. I will update it tomorrow. Apart from that, the US Open has started and the last Grand Slam tournament of the year has begun. Zverev made no mistake in the first round with a 3-0 win over the nasty Vukic, so today I will concentrate on the second round between Thiem and Shelton.

Dominic Thiem never really got going after injury
I can imagine that this match will be played on Centre Court. An American against a former finalist always sells well and both players have a spectacular game. Thiem was seriously injured at the beginning of 2022, and one of the things that did not go well was his wrist. Thiem used to be a regular in the top 10 and was one of the world's best on clay. He has since slipped to 81st and is struggling at every tournament.

Ben Shelton - one of the up-and-coming Americans
Like most Americans, Shelton has a very good serve and a ferocious forehand. Last year he was still playing at the College of Florida, but by the end of the year he had made the jump to the ATP circuit. He is now ranked 42nd in the world and rising. He reached the quarter-finals at the Australia Open. He is definitely a player to watch in the future and I like him today.

My Thiem vs. Shelton prediction
Thiem has only won one match on a hard court this year - the first round match on Monday. I think he is still not 100%, both physically and mentally. Shelton will challenge him every second here with hard groundstrokes and has the advantage of having the crowd on his side. Shelton played a very good match against Alcaraz at the Masters in Canada, who can only be beaten by Djokovic at the moment. There is a lot for me to like here, even if it hurts for Thiem. I have always enjoyed watching his matches in 2019/2020, he will be up to that level.
