As the British gambling provider William Hill announced a few days ago, the industry giant wants to close three of its online casinos soon. Since the 29th. November 2021 no new customers can register with the concerned providers. But which online casinos are involved and what is the reason for the sudden closure?

William Hill is one of the largest bookmakers in the United Kingdom and at the same time operator of several online gambling providers. In February of this year we reported about the commitment of William Hill to regenerative energy and to have women in managerial positions at its companies. As it was announced more than a week ago, the British gambling giant now immediately wants to close three of its famous online casinos permanently. Apparently this is a strategic decision which was decided after a brand evaluation of the company.

Which Online Casinos will be closed?

A few days ago, William Hill informed his partner companies by email about the decision to close three online casinos. The latter are the William Hill Casino Club, the EuroGrand as well as 21Nova. Since the 29th. November 2021 no new customers were allowed to register with the three online casinos involved. There will be a transitional and expiration period, in which all registered players can continue to make use of the gambling offers and receive their credit paid out. This phase will end on the 24th. January 2022.

It was a surprise for some casino fans that the three online casinos will be closed. At the end of the day all three providers are very famous gambling brands with a long serving tradition. . After around 15 years the closure of the providers is now in the pipeline. The William Hill Casino Club was opened in 2009, it was therefore involved in the online gambling market for around twelve years.

William Hill is a world famous gambling provider which was founded in 1934 and therefore has a long tradition. In 2021 the gambling giant employed around 12,000 employees and generated more than 1,3 billion GBP. Besides the online business, William Hill operates more than 1,400 betting shops in Great Britain. 

Why are three large online casinos suddenly disappearing from the market?

As William Hill informed its partner companies in an email, this is a strategic decision. The aim is to focus on the remaining brands William Hill and Mr Green. Further to this William Hill has promised to remain faithful to these core brands and that it does not plan any further streamlining of the services. Therefore the brands redbet, MamaMia Bingo, 11.lv, as well as Bertil will remain unchanged and will still be available for the players.

Mr Green is one of the most famous and lucrative online casinos in Europe. The company was founded in 2007 and was then bought by William Hill in 2019 for 242 Million GBP. In 2017 Mr Green generated a turnover amounting to more than 121 million Euro. Mr Green was originally founded by the three Swedish companies Henrik Bergquist, Mikael Pawlo und Fredrik Sidfalk.

William Hill itself was very recently taken over by the renowned online gambling providers 888 Holdings. The unbelievable price of 2,75 billion US-Dollars was due for it. Around a year ago exactly, we had reported that, the 888 Holdings will have more influence on the market.

Conclusion

The closure of the three famous Online Casinos 21Nova, EuroGrand und William Hill Casino Club is a surprise for many gambling enthusiasts. As William Hill has informed, one has decided to take this step to be able to concentrate on the core markets. These are the provider William Hill as well as the popular Mr Green Casino. A long serving era will be over with the closure of the three gambling brands.
