In the future, Sächsische Lotto-GmbH will offer some of its lottery products via its own online shop. Customers will be able to order tickets for the Glücksrakete and Sachsen Million lotteries, as well as the scratch-off calendar. Until now, there has been no online shop for scratch tickets in Germany, so the state lottery provider is now a pioneer.

This is the first time that a lottery operator in Germany has offered its products via an online shop and then sent them to customers' homes. Sachsenlotto recently announced in a press release that it will initially offer at least three lottery products by mail order. In February this year, we reported that Lotto Niedersachsen had launched a scratch card with a top prize of one million euros.

"Happiness comes home"

The Managing Director of Sachsenlotto, Frank Schwarz, was proud that the state lottery provider is now the first in Germany to offer lottery products by mail order. In his statement, he pointed out that the new online offer could be particularly attractive for players in rural regions. However, only tickets for the Glücksrakete and the Sachsen Million lotteries as well as the scratch calendar are currently available.

How can the protection of minors and players be guaranteed during shipment?

Sachsenlotto stated in the press release that an identity check is carried out for every purchase. This is to ensure that every customer is at least 18 years old. The lottery products are only sent to customers with an address in Saxony. The state lottery also stresses that this is not online gambling, but a pure mail-order service. In an article published in April last year, we asked whether scratchcards in online casinos are worth it.

However, according to the provider, it takes between two and five working days from the receipt of the order by Sachsenlotto to the receipt of the ordered tickets for the lotteries Glücksrakete and Sachsen Million as well as the scratch calendar. The offer will initially include a one-month test phase, which will take place in December. A decision will then be made as to whether the online shop for scratch tickets will be operated on a permanent basis.

Player from Thuringia wins half a million euros with scratch card

It was only on 22 November that it was announced that a player from Thuringia had won the top prize of 500,000 euros in the "Green Heart" environmental lottery. The lucky player is said to be from the Wartburg district and paid ten euros for his scratch card. Last summer, we reported that a woman had won two million instead of 2,000 on a scratch card.

Conclusion

Sachsenlotto is opening the first online shop for scratch cards in Germany, at least on a trial basis. Just like in a clothes shop, customers can put the desired products in their shopping basket, enter their delivery address and pay for the order. Sachsenlotto will then conveniently deliver the scratch cards to their home within a maximum of five working days.
