After lately there were no positive news from the big cities of the US Federal State of Nevad, there is finally a ray of hope. The new Corona regulations permit the reopening of Pool-Clubs as from March. Of course, the hygiene measures have to be adhered to.

In the US-Federal State Nevada one can be pleased about the lower number of cases. For this reason, the Governor of Nevada, Steve Sisolak, has now signed a decree, which eases the restrictions extensively. In fact, in the next days, the first clubs will reopen and even the popular can take place again, under certain conditions.

Poolpartys of up to 100 Persons are permitted again

Whilst Germany is still in “Constant-Lockdown”, the people in the US Federal State of Nevada are allowed to have more freedom again. The US-Governor Sisolak has given the green light for the popular Poolpartys with a decision announced on the 14th. February 2021. Especially in Las Vegas these activities were quite popular with locals and tourists before the pandemic.

In Nevada, the number of infections have been decreasing since several weeks. Whilst in December around 2,500 cases had been registered, in January only around 2000 were registered. Currently there are around 500 new cases per day from a population of around 3 million. (As at mid February).

In the US Federal State of Nevada, activities for up to 100 persons can be organised. The first Pool-Clubs have already announced, that they will be opening their gates in the next days and weeks. The preparations are now in full blast, after they were all closed for nearly a year. Before the pandemic, world-famous DJs as Zedd, Calvin Harris or The Chainsmokers played during the Poolpartys in Las Vegas.

The Wynn’s Encore Beach Club und the MGM Grand’s Wet Republic are among the first Clubs in Las Vegas which are allowed to reopen. Here is an overview of the most popular locations for Poolpartys in Las Vegas:

  • Mandalay Bay’s Daylight Beach Club (from 5th. March)

Las Vegas suffering during the pandemic

In October, we reported how Las Vegas is facing the end of a Gambling Era.Whilst in “normal“ times umpteen million visitors from all over the world flocked to the Desert Metropole, in the last year there were only a mere fraction of them. The consequence: Casinos and Hotels must close, some, like in the case of MGM Resorts dismissed several employees. Also in this year, one cannot really expect the situation to return to normality again.

Las Vegas is the largest city in the US Federal State of Nevada with a population of more than 650.000 inhabitants. In 2019 around 42 million tourists travelled to Las Vegas. The Hotel Mirage, the Casino Bellagio, as well as the Aria Resort & Hotel are among the most popular hotels and casinos in the city.

At least some Hotels of the MGM Resort Group are now opening round the clock again. Besides, the maximum number of visitors to casinos has gone up from 25 to 35 % of the possible capacity. Restaurants and Bars are allowed to welcome guests without previous reservations. The already mentioned decrease in the number of cases especially in the US Federal State of Nevada are the reason for these extensive relaxation of measures. In spite of the generous relaxation of measures, the tourists are of course missed in the “Gambling Metropole”.

Conclusion

The Governor of Nevada has decided, that activities of up to 100 persons can take place with immediate effect. This includes the reopening of among others Poolpartys and Nightclubs, under strict regulations. Lately we received the news from Las Vegas, that the Hotels and Casinos are once again gradually starting up their operations. Unfortunately the entry ban for European Citizens enforced by the current US-President Joe Biden were recently extended for an indefinite time. Therefore, tourists will for some time continue to be a rarity in Las Vegas. Gradually some kind of normality is returning to the world famous “Gambling Metropole”.
