At the beginning of February, a Chinese man had tried to play a wrong game on the Roulette table in an Austrian casino. The aim was to defraud the casino. However, the deceit was noticed, and the police arrested him. Which scam did the man use to defraud the casino in Roulette?

In April of this year we had published an article on GambleJoe about three pensioners who were condemned for manipulating a roulette ball. In a recent case a man from Austria had also tried to defraud a casino from Austria during Roulette. However, the croupiers noticed the scam early enough and alarmed the police. These arrested the guest and took him directly to the police station for interrogation.

Casino personnel became suspicion upon seeing the high winnings

The alleged suspect attracted the attention of the croupiers in Kärntner Street in Vienna since he made high winnings on the roulette table. The trained personnel then went on to observe him and they were quick to discover that he was interfering in the game. The casino alerted the police, and the player was reported. According to recent reports in the media, the fraudster is a 47-year-old man who holds a Chinese citizenship. He had at first presented false documents. However, the police noticed the deceit and they discovered his true identity.

Unfortunately, till now neither the police nor the casino have given information about which spoofing actions the man is being accused of. We only known that apparently, he had manipulated the so-called air pressure roulette table. In May 2022 we had reported that in Austria there could soon be slot machines in cinemas and bakeries.

Landeskriminalamt Wien (Regional Investigative Office Vienna) investigates

The police in Austria have meanwhile confirmed that one person was being investigated for manipulating games of chance. Besides this, the Vienna police is looking for another two further suspects, namely a 34-year-old man from the Dominican Republic and a 34-year-old man from Morocco. The Landeskriminalamt (Regional Investigative Office) is currently investigating the case. In another article in August 2022 we had reported that an online casino had to reimburse an Austrian player the sum of 1.6 million Euro for his losses.

Conclusion

Till now it is still not known how the player managed to defraud the casino in Vienna during roulette and come out with such high winnings. However, the employees were quick to recognise the deceit and alerted the police. They arrested the man with Chinese citizenship and took him for interrogation. The police are still looking for the other two alleged accomplices.
