Football Tips: Spain v Sweden
I have to admit that the Women's World Cup has taken a bit of a backseat for me, mainly due to Germany's exit. There have also been a lot of other big leagues kicking off that I have been focusing on. The USA have now also been eliminated as big favourites, and even the strong Japanese women have failed to make it. From a neutral point of view, I am hoping for a win for the Mattildas in front of their home crowd. But let us now turn our attention to the first semi-final between Spain and Sweden.

Sweden as favourites
The Swedes were unlikely to be the favourites at the start of the tournament, but they had an easy time of it in their group, knocking out the USA in a penalty shootout before knocking out the mighty Japanese. They now need another outstanding performance against Spain to make it three wins from three as underdogs. They were the better side against Japan and deserve a place in the last eight.

Spain are now 2.60 to win the tournament, followed by England at 3.00. Spain had that blip against Japan, which I also analysed in my football predictions. After that, they beat Switzerland comfortably and won in extra time against the Netherlands. However, they were the better side in that game and it was a miracle that the Dutch made it to extra time.

My prediction for Spain v Sweden
In my mind's eye, this game will be very slow, controlled and tactical. Neither team is going to make any mistakes and the nerves of the semi-final will play an even bigger role. I can easily see the game going into extra time at 0-0 or with a lucky punch. I cannot prove it, but that is how I see the game going. I believe that Sweden, in particular, will fail to score here and therefore recommend the "Both teams fail to score" bet. This is the safe way to go, even if there is no such thing as safe in sports betting.
