As it was announced more than two weeks ago, a construction worker in Argentina has cracked the casino jackpot. However, he was refused the distribution of profits. The casino’s reason for this was that there was a malfunctioning in the equipment. But is such a procedure even legal?

Recently in April of last year we had reported about Argentina. At that time, we had reported about a floating luxury casino for Argentina, which should be stationary in the harbour. In this case a construction worker in a casino in Argentina has knacked the Mega-Jackpot. However, the joy was short-lived: A short while later a top executive of the casino appeared at the slot machine, switched it off and informed him that there was a technical fault in the machine and the win was a mistake.

Jackpot amounted to 100 Million Pesos

The jackpot which the casino customer had won amounted to the unbelievable sum of 100 million Pesos. When converted this is equivalent to around 750,000 Euro. This happened at the Casino of Río Gallegos in the Province of Santa Cruz. The construction worker had initially played at the slot machine without success, and thus he had. lost part of his credit balance. A short while later the man was really surprised when he looked at the screen: he had cleared the jackpot and won 100 Million Pesos.

A short while later the casino guests rushed to congratulate him. Even some casino employees were there to extend their congratulations. However, a short while later a top executive appeared, and all the happiness was quickly over.

Casino-Chef switches off slot machine and points out that it had a technical fault

The top executive pointed out to the “winner” that there was a technical fault and thus the prize could not be paid out. Then he switched off the slot machine. The disappointed casino winner was not happy and requested that his prize is paid out. According to his own statement he was then shouted at and accused of being “dishonest”. Those responsible at the casino insisted that the man had consciously exploited a well-known malfunction of the slot machine to receive the prize. In March of this year we had reported about a casino winner who had not realised that he had won and left the casino without his prize.

The unhappy Jackpot winner hails from the city of Luis Piedrabuena and works as a construction worker. The winner had even suggested that the machine is checked out by an official expert. However, the management of the casino refused this suggestion. Instead, he was allowed to take a photo of the respective machine.

Now the man is seeking legal advice and he has informed the police and engaged a lawyer. The man’s lawyer is now looking for witnesses who had been there when this happened and can give a statement. Besides this, the lawyer will also be requesting a copy of the recording of the surveillance camera. The casino refused to give a statement and pointed out that the proceedings are ongoing. Meanwhile in Brazil the gambling legislation is forging ahead. Brazil is a neighbouring country of Argentina and is also situated in South America.

Conclusion

The Argentine construction worker is still waiting to receive his prize of 100 million 100 Million Pesos. The casino has pointed out that there was a malfunction in the slot machine and therefore refused to pay out the jackpot winnings. We are excited to see what will come out from the investigations of the police, of the Argentinian Gambling Authority and of the lawyer. It is also questionable whether the man can prove that he had actually cracked the Jackpot.
